Campolindo Girls, Davis Senior Boys Produce 4x800 Relay Meet Records at Dublin Distance FiestaPublished by
All-senior lineup runs 9:31.93 for Cougars, with Blue Devils now boasting a pair of meet all-time marks following 7:57.18 effort, joining 2016 distance medley relay record 10:23.93 By Erik Boal, DyeStat Editor DUBLIN, Calif. – Davis Senior needed an impressive anchor leg Friday night from Lucas Tam to secure its second relay meet record in Dublin Distance Fiesta history. By the time Shea Volkmer received the baton on the final leg for the Campolindo girls, it wasn’t a matter of whether the senior would eclipse the 4x800-meter relay meet standard, but by how much. The all-senior lineup of Daisy Penney, Kate Kabenina, Rachel Moen and Volkmer clocked 9 minutes, 31.93 seconds for Campolindo, smashing the 9:50.15 performance achieved last year by Rio Americano, leading three programs under the previous standard at Dublin High. Campolindo achieved the third-fastest effort in program history, including the Cougars’ best time since 2015. Mountain View ran 9:38.18 to place second and San Francisco University took third in 9:48.40, both under Rio Americano’s mark from last season. Stockton Lincoln placed fourth at 9:50.90, with Crystal Springs Uplands clocking 9:59.11. Beckett Dolan, Tomas Ferns, Jefferson Wright and Tam triumphed in 7:57.18 for Davis Senior, eclipsing the 7:57.44 effort produced last year by Pleasant Grove. It was also the third-fastest time in program history for Davis. The Blue Devils now boast meet all-time marks in the 4x800 and distance medley relay, the latter performance of 10:23.93 from 2016 still remaining the longest-standing Dublin Distance Fiesta record. Los Gatos, relying on an impressive anchor leg from Aydon Stefanopoulos, finished second in 8:05.86 and Bellarmine Prep took third in 8:09.92. More news |
